There’s Levels to This
There’s levels to shooting your shot in the DMs. It ranges from the guys who are direct and just say things like “What’s up with you” to those who respond to a post and build up to asking for your number. Some of them, don’t even get a response while others get a private eye investigation through their IG before receiving “Hey.” I think social media has slowly became a dating app but without the bad stigma. We interact with people we might have never crossed paths with and we can stick to low stakes DMs instead of giving out our digits if we please. Regardless to if the conversation stays in the DM or transitions to an exchange of numbers, there needs to be some key things to look for when deciding whether or not to indulge in a conversation.

In my world, the initial conversation holds weight so dot your I’s and cross your t’s sir. I pay attention to word choice, grammar, and overall effort so “WYD” isn’t getting you anywhere but left on read. Next, I click on their page, read the bio, and start the real investigation… the photos. Looks are not everything but they do weigh something so I swiftly stroll through current and old pics with an occasional pause to zoom in when necessary. During this step you should also look at the background and reflect on these questions: Is it clean? Does it look like a woman decorated it? Are there any kid’s toys? Lastly, I make the decision to move forward or act like I never saw the message.
Clearly, I am not against the potential of it going down in the DM. Besides, if all else fails you can just block each other and keep posting inspirational quotes.
