So We’re Going to Disney World Together…
No, it’s not what you think. This is not some happily after that ends with a proposal in front of Cinderella’s castle. My daughter’s dad and I are planning a family vacation! No, we are not together and we have not been together since our daughter was one. This vacation will actually include his wife, his other two kids, my sister and my nephew. Yeah, it’s a family affair for real, for real. How do I feel? I am actually excited about… mainly because I missed my chance to Disney World my senior year of high school due to giving birth to my daughter months prior so for me, I am excited af! It’s not how I envisioned my first trip to Disney world but here we are, a blended family in these streets.
Blended AF
Baby, this co-parent life has not been a crystal stair but once I humbled myself and just accepted that I was going to have to deal with my daughter’s dad foreva (Cardi B voice) then my life became easier. To be honest, if catch me outside were a pair of parents then it would be my daughter’s dad and I when we were around 18. We definitely had no compassion nor understanding for one another back then but over a decade later we have definitely perfected our methods.
The keys to our co-parenting relationship has been the following: trust, communication, and patience. I also recognize that it will not always look how I think it should look but it is always worth it.
